Abhyanga
Abhyanga is the annointing of herbal oil on the head and body. Recommended as a daily Practice in Ayurveda, Abhyanga is performed with specialized strokes in the direction of the flow of Prana (the life force).

Karna Purana
Drops of lukewarm herbal oil are put into the ears. Helps to relieve diseases of the ears, as well as stiffness and pain of the neck and jaw. It also prevents diseases of the ears such as deafness, earache and tinnitus.
Padabhyanga
The feet are anointed with herbal oil using highly specialised strokes. Gives strength to the feet, ensures good sleep, improves eyesight, relieves loss of sensation and tiredness, mitigates against loss of movement and cracking of the soles.
Sirobhyanga
Application of herbal oil on the head (The head is anointed with herbal oil using highly specialised strokes. Gives strength to the head and brain, ensures good sleep and good eyesight, relieves tiredness and fatigue and improves the memory.
Udvartana
A special massage wherein a herbal paste like scrub is applied all over the body using special strokes. Improves metabolism and circulation, reduces fat and dead skin cells, imparts softness and radiance to the skin, brings about freshness and vitality. Also used in the treatment of skin diseases and obesity.
Mukhalepa
This treatment is also known as an ‘Ayurveda Facial’. The face and neck are cleaned and nourished using a combination of herbal waters, pastes and oils. Enhances the steadiness of the eyes, brings fullness, radiance and lustre to the face and helps remove hyper-pigmentation and pimples.
Nasya
A specified number of oil or herbal decoction drops are instilled into the nostrils. The face, hands and feet are gently rubbed after nasya to enable full penetration of the oil into the nostrils and maintain body heat. Nasya can be administered daily with 2-3 drops of oil in each nostril (daily nasya) for well-being or therapeutically in larger doses for the treatment of disease.
Netra Tarpana ( Residential guests only)
Herbal Ghee is poured on the eyes into a little pitch (dam) constructed with lentil flour around the eyes.It is beneficial for weal eyesight, dryness of the eyes, conjuntivitis and other eye diseases.
Shirodhara (Residential guests only)
Shira means head and dhara means the continuous flow of liquid. In this process herbal oils, decoctions or milks are poured onto the forehead in a rhythmic fashion. This treatment is beneficial for psycho emotional well-being.
Svedana
This treatment is usually performed after the body has been anointed with oil by abhyanga. The patient sits in a wooden steam box which covers the body but not the head. The body is exposed to a continuous flow of herbal steam.
Patra Potli/Pinda sveda
A type of steam therapy in which herbal leaves and herbal powers are used to administer steam to the prescribed areas of the body. Leaves of herbs are made into boluses and pounded and managed on the whole or part of the body after dipping in warm herbal oil.
Navara Kizzhi (Residential guests only)
A type of steam treatment with rice boluses. A special variety of rice is cooked with milk and a herbal decoction until it becomes a pudding like consistency. This mixture is then wrapped into boluses. The boluses are heated and pounded on the body.
Hrid/Griva/Udara/Jaanu ( Heart/Neck/Abdomen) Vasti
A pitch (round dam) is constructed around the affected area and warm herbal oil is poured onto this area to detoxify and strengthen the area.
Kati Vasti
A pitch (round dam) is constructed around the lower back area and a warm herbal oil is poured onto this area.
Basti (Residential guests only)
Basti is an enema treatment. During this treatment herbal oil, ghee or decoction is administered into the colon through the anal orifice.
